Greetings!   Are you a MILF?  Well…my meaning for the acronym is Mom In Love w/Fitness.  I find that most moms always put themselves last to take care of everyone else first. This often leaves your health and well being on pause.  Not good!!     When you can fall in love with fitness you will embrace the process as gradual & consistent and not be in a rush for a quick fix.   Meet Terra. Some of you may know this cutie below in the pic. For those of you that don’t, she is my little sister, Tina. In the past, Tina and I have exercised and we’ve dieted together often (when 1000 calorie diets or counting “points” were the only way we knew how to drop pounds). I can remember those conversations “how many points do you have left for the day sis?” or “I can’t eat that because I only have 3 points left”. Those methods may work for some, and I’m glad that they make people aware of portion control, but it’s really an insane way to live. Overcomplicating things is a surefire way to make you want to quit. And most women do. A little over 8 weeks ago, Tina called me and said, “I’m ready to get my body back, can you help me?” She had committed to a transformation program at a local fitness studio in her town. Tina was exercising 3 times a week, but she needed some clean eating know-how to really see the results she was after. don’t take it for granted… plus a workout for you today‏

What a week… I had no idea I was going to write about this today, but when I thought about whether or not I should mention it… I don’t feel like I have a choice as I’m still pretty shaky. Wednesday afternoon my dog Daisy was hit by a car pretty bad. Daisy and her brother Roger are indoor pets that accidentally got out. As they were roaming around a driver on her cell phone sped through a residential street — without stopping — and slammed into Daisy. The impact was bad enough that it tore the woman’s front fender off. Daisy managed to limp off and was rescued by Jen, an amazing woman that saw the whole thing happen. Thank God, she’s on the mend after a couple days of close watch at the Vet (save deep gashes and wounds, nasty bruises, soreness, massive road rash, etc.). The most upsetting thing is how my mind keeps flashing these “alternate reality” scenarios in my head. These horrible, mini movies where if it were just a few seconds off… She may not have survived. “You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you.” –Brian Tracy At the time that I filmed this video I was preparing to compete in an NPC (National Physique Committee) bikini competition. It’s not all glamour you see. I’m lacquered in layer upon layer of stinky spray tan and looking like a tall, buffed, Portuguese oompa-loompah. Laugh, it’s ok. My family thinks it’s hilarious How does this relate to you and taking charge? Because I want you to know that even though your goals may not look like mine, YOUR goals are ones that need YOUR attention. This requires some action on your end. Take charge. So many of my women are taking charge and squashing excuses. Even on days when you are a little tired, feeling less than excited and motivated or frustrated with what you think of as “lack of results”. Take charge. Yes, I said it again. I always tell my goddesses, the moment that you start having that little conversation in your head that you “can’t, won’t, don’t”… you are right. Because, if you begin to think these things, then ultimately you are giving up and won’t proceed with taking charge. It starts with your thoughts. Those thoughts then become things. Shift your mindset and shift your life! I’m a realist. I know that somedays you’ll feel like shit, want to give up or have no desire to exercise or eat right.
