How long have you been pole dancing at Venus Pole Fitness? 6 fabulous months!

Have you undergone a transformation (physically, emotionally or both!)?
Both! Physically I am much stronger than I have ever been. Over the past 6 months I have watched my body transform into a lean clean eating machine, which is far more than I could ever imagine. My muscles are more defined and my stamina has increased as well. Emotionally, I am a new woman. It is amazing how transforming your body can transform your mind. Now I am confident, fit and sexy!

Did you have any previous dance or fitness training before starting pole?
I took ballet, tap and jazz from age 5 through middle school and then cheerleading throughout high school. Nevertheless, that was a while ago. I was definitely a little rusty when I started at Venus. I guess it’s like riding a bike–you never really forget how to point your toes and position your arms when you need to.

What made you decide to take classes?
I had been interested in taking a Pole class for a good year or two, but I couldn’t muster up the courage to go by myself. I would browse the website and look at dates and times but I just couldn’t commit to it. I finally got on the mailing list to constantly remind myself that this is something I needed to do. One day I got an email about the 12-week challenge, and I just knew it was now or never. I emailed Diane, went into the studio, and signed up that day. I haven’t looked back since!

Favorite class and why?
This is a tough one, because I love all of the classes. They each bring a new level of challenge, and I love to be challenged. That being said, I am loving Climb & Spin right now. I enjoy learning and practicing new spins and climbs and then rocking them out to music!

What is it that you LOVE about our studio?
Everything! From the moment I walked through the doors every fear, anxiety, and pre-conceived notion I had fell to the wayside. Diane, and all of the staff, makes you feel so comfortable every step of the way. I love the way I feel when I am at the studio. I know that I am not being judged by anyone and that we are all there to be positive and work on our own personal goals. Venus allows me to embrace challenge, learn infinitely and play passionately!

Platforms, barefeet or legwarmers?
I love all 3! It really just depends on my mood and the class. I could honestly live in leg warmers, although they aren’t the greatest for climbing.

What are you currently working on technically?
Transitioning from spins to climbs to sexy pole and floor work—flawlessly of course.

What are you working on artistically?
Making my spins beautiful and graceful with my own personal flare.

Do you have a favorite song to pole dance to?
“Rockstar 101” by Rihanna

Guilty pleasure:
Watching Law & Order SVU Marathons. If I’m not careful, I could literally stay in bed all day and watch that show. I love it!

Final Question: Any inspirational advice you would like to share with new polers?
Take a deep breathe and remember that, “This too shall pass”. There will be moments when you will feel challenged, afraid, ridiculous or self-conscious, but it will pass. The women at Venus are strong and positive individuals that are here to get fit, have fun, and embrace their inner goddess–just like you. Before you know it you will be rocking booty shorts and dropping it like it’s hot, and we will all be there to root you on!
