Goddess Of The Month, May 2015- Angela Castro

I’ll never forget the first day that I met Angela. She came to the Goddess Body University kick off with her good friend. I knew instantly that I was going to love her.

She smiled through the burpees. She laughed and encouraged her teammates. She proudly grimaced during her very first pole sit.

Most importantly, she EXUDED confidence and a relentless drive to never give up.

Angela is just getting started with her lifestyle journey at Venus, but she’s already made so much progress. I hope you enjoy her story below and, if you know her, make sure to congratulate her when you see her.

Meet Angela Castro….


Miss Angela!

Occupation and age: Senior Operations Manager, for a company that teaches individuals with developmental disabilities. I’m 36.

Kids? Grandkids? If so brag a bit: I have a beautiful, dancing, swimming daughter who just turned 8 and a handsome, trumpet-playing, soccer goalie son who is 9 and a half.

Your life motto: “It’s not the load that breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it.”

How long have you been a Goddess at Venus? I started on the first 2015 Goddess Body University—January 17th!

Have you undergone a transformation (physically, emotionally or both!)? I’ve transformed physically and emotionally. Physically, I have become so much stronger and more in control of my body. I have much better balance and endurance. I’ve lost inches and 22lbs, but beyond the numbers, I feel great. I feel like I’ve transformed emotionally because I have learned to eat to nourish my body, not to pacify or suppress my emotions.

Did you have any previous dance or fitness training before starting Venus? Nothing in a long time. Any new fitness regimens or plans never lasted more than a few weeks.

What made you decide to participate in the Goddess Body University Program? I needed change in my life. I had gained a lot a weight and wasn’t motivated enough to exercise and meal plan on my own. VPF offered an all-in-one solution for me with accountability (Goddess Body University). I knew I had found the right place from the very first welcome video I watched from Diane.

What have you learned about yourself, nutrition or exercise during this program? Everything! I had been going about fitness and nutrition all wrong! I have learned that I don’t have to count calories, I don’t have to run on a treadmill, and for goodness sakes—I can eat anything I want (in moderation!). Who’d have thought?!? I eat more volume of food than before, I always feel challenged by the VPF bootcamps and pole classes, and I don’t feel deprived.

What fears held you back (if you had any!) before you joined? Time management- figuring out how I was going to make this all work in my life. But believe it or not, doing something you love sure makes it easier to fit nutrition and fitness into your schedule than something you despise or loathe.

Favorite class and why? All of them! Every instructor is unique in their teaching style and personality. I love bootcamp because it helps me get strong and I love pole classes because they are fun and I can measurably see the results of bootcamp.

 What is it that you LOVE about Venus? The staff and clients. The welcome and fun atmosphere. Zero drama and 100% positive.

Platforms, barefeet or legwarmers? PLATFORMS!

What are your current pole goals? To climb to the top of the pole is at the top of my list at the moment.

What are your current fitness goals? Continue to eat right, lose some dress sizes, and continue to increase the number of tire flips I can do during bootcamp (my favorite!).

What is your favorite Goddess recipe? Mmm! So many! I’d have to say Carrot Cake Protein Bars and PB & Chocolate muffins.

Do you have a favorite song to pole dance to? Crazy In Love by Sofia Karlberg
