Quiet and reserved, but oh-so-talented, Michelle Miller has been a long standing Goddess at my studio since January of 2011. She has been the most consistent student in her attendance with almost 440 classes attended since then.
She is a pole rockstar and is one of the most advanced polers in the studio.
She is a Goddess Body Bootcamp badass with the fastest run test time so far in the studio and she dominates our kickass workouts (usually drenched in buckets of sweat 🙂
And she’s been completely amazing to watch transform over the last 4+ years.
We even had the privilege of watching her belly transform during her pregnancy. She performed in our open house showcases and continued with her pole climbs and tricks right up until she gave birth.
Michelle, you’ve been a joy to have in the studio and I’m so glad to share your inspirational photos and story with the world.
Meet Michelle Miller…
Occupation and age: Teacher, 33
Kids? Grandkids? If so, brag a bit: I have one active, amazing, adorable, almost 2 year old son!
Your life motto: Never give up; always give it your all.
How long have you been a Goddess at Venus? Almost 5 years
Have you undergone a transformation (physically, emotionally or both!)? Both! I have gained so much strength after starting bootcamp and pole and have been able to do things that I never thought I would be able to do. I continued to take pole classes until I was 9 months pregnant…I had no idea I would make it that long but my doctor said it was okay and I felt fine so I just kept going!
Did you have any previous dance or fitness training before starting Venus? I took dance classes as a kid but not really anything else until I started at Venus.
What made you decide to take classes? My friend Kim asked me to take the Intro to Pole class with her and from then I was hooked.
What fears held you back (if you had any!) before you joined? I guess I was just afraid it would be hard or I wouldn’t be able to do it but once I started those kind of just went away.
Favorite class and why? I love the pole classes. I really like pole flow because we get to just DANCE but I also like the vertical classes because we learn new inverts and practice our skills.
What is it that you LOVE about Venus? I love coming to a place where I can feel supported and be myself. I can let go of the pressures of my day and just dance or workout and have fun doing it! And I don’t have to worry about changing anyone’s diaper while I’m there!
Platforms, barefeet or legwarmers? Legwarmers when it’s cold. Platforms for dancing. Barefeet for practicing inverts!
What are your current pole goals? Working inverts into actual dancing and smoothing them out. Also working on transitions. Trying to work the handspring into my freedance!
What are your current fitness goals? Always working on those problem areas for me: the stomach and thighs ;p
What is your favorite Goddess recipe? Cookie dough dip!
15 oz can chickpeas
1/8 tsp salt
1/8 tsp baking soda
1/3/cup chocolate chips
2 tsp vanilla
¼ cup milk (if needed)
2-3 TBSP oats
Sweetener (agave, stevia, etc)
Add all ingredients (except choc chips) to food processor and blend. Mix in chocolate chips. Serve with graham crackers or apple slices.
Do you have a favorite song to pole dance to? Face to the floor by Chevelle and Sweet Dreams by Marilyn Manson
We LOVE music at Venus Pole Fitness. What 3 songs would be featured on the soundtrack to YOUR life?
- “ I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor
- “Happy” by Pharrell
- “Insane in the Membrane” by Cypress Hill
Final Question: Any inspirational advice you would like to share with women who are afraid to come to the studio and start their own transformation? You just have to let go of your fears and just come try it! You will be so glad you did!
Inspired by Michelle’s story? Well, we will be opening up the next round of our signature program, Goddess Body University soon. We have an in-studio AND online program.
